Berlin based English duo Hume serve up their debut release, showing some serious promise with their clear sense of melody, emotion and atmosphere.
‘5th Floor’ centres around an earworm of a marimba refrain, with stuttering beats and techy stabs creating a propulsive groove around the melodic melancholy. ‘Edmund’ drops the tempo but ups the drama, with a little of that new school progressive house vibe turned down to a simmer and overflowing with moody melody. Label boss Ben Gomori injects a little tribal feel into ‘5th Floor’ on his remix, keeping things hypnotic, deep and rolling and letting the marimbas shine.
