Ben Hoo has compiled and mixed the upcoming Ibiza Get Physical compilation which is due in June, but a week before that he serves up two new tracks from it, backed with an exclusive remix from Pezzner. DJ, composer, multi-instrumentalist and producer Hoo is a key part of the Get Physical family having mixed last year’s Ibiza compilation as well as putting out plenty of EPs and his album, ‘Collected‘, through sister label, Kindisch.
He lives on the White Isle and has a weekly radio show ‘We Are Night People’ on Ibiza Sonica that shows off his eclectic style, ranging from chilled out beats to club cuts and back again. Here he shows his sound is always subtly evolving. The majestic ‘An Expanse’ opens up with smart drum programming and lush synths that fill the track with color and future soul. It’s a truly original piece with uplifting moods next to the compelling grooves. Next, ’Meet in the Middle’ is superbly stripped back deep house. It has warm, rubbery, rolling drums that really sink you into the groove as deft chords bring neon colors. Sprinklings of percussion add detail that elevates this to the next level.
Pezzner is a long time talent who writes, composes and teaches electronic music to a consistently high standard. The American has credits on Visionquest and Freerange amongst many others. His remix is more upright but just as smooth and soulful, with thoughtful pads and jangling percussion taking you deep into an intimate and late-night atmosphere. These are three tasteful house tracks from the ever-excellent Hoo and Pezzner.
