Barcelona-based Lucas Freire joins Andre Crom’s OFF Recordings roster, and his three originals tracks are complemented by remixes from Oliver Deutschmann and Tom Hades.
When he performs, Lucas Freire is said to be a man who takes control of the DJ booth with a near perfect mixing style, that is down to a self-taught knowledge of how to captivate a dancefloor.
His skilled ear also translates into the records he produces, leading to releases on labels including Driving Forces, Different is Different and Naked Lunch.
Belgian techno legend Tom Hades continues to become a core member of the OFF Recordings family, following his recent EP on the label which was supported by everyone from Charlotte de Witte to Laurent Garnier.
Oliver Deutschmann returns to OFF Recordings after his 2016 remix for Andre Crom. Once again he adds his Midas touch, as he reminds us of why his critically acclaimed sound has found favor on imprints such as Hotflush, Innervisons and Mote Evolver.
The EP opens with ‘Euphoria‘, which is a dark and twisted work out with an uplifting bell sound that creates a shimmering contrast to its murky surrounding.
Getting even darker is ‘Beyond Democracy‘ that like its title suggests, takes the law into its own hands and unleashes vigilante style justice on the dancefloor.
‘Sleeping Beauty’ is a deeper affair with hypnotic synths that have soothing textures and an eerie atmosphere, but don’t get too relaxed as dreams can easily turn into nightmares, as Oliver Deutschmann proves with his acidic remix that’s full of things that go bump in the night.
Finally, Tom Hades brings us back to the beginning with his slowly evolving version of ‘Euphoria’ that builds to an uplifting break before continuing its epic journey in style
