“KNOW WHAT” is a powerful, soulful house track off the 2018 ‘BC I WANT TO EP’ by LADYMONIX. Here we see Barcelona producer sum x y re-imagine the tune, giving it a driving, crisp tech-house makeover. With a thumping main room beat and a hypnotic, growling sub bass line, the vocals of the original track soar over the top of this high-energy remix, pushing forward into an impellent synth melody.
LADYMONIX is Detroit-based DJ, producer, and owner of the record label Frizner Electric, Monica Frizner. Originally from Baltimore, Frizner has become a powerhouse in the Detroit underground dance scene, performing frequently at Deluxx Fluxx, Marble Bar, Motorcity Wine, and Temple Bar. She released her first EP entitled ‘BC I WANT TO’ under the Frizner Electric imprint in 2018, and is preparing to release another in the spring of 2019.
sum x y is Barcelona-based producer and performer, Matt Tompkins. Tompkins produces originals, remixes, and edits in a wide arrange of styles including house, techno, downtempo, and left-field. He also has an active career in the rock world as the bassist of Detroit rock band Electric Six, and former singer and guitarist of the Boston-based Mighty Tiny. As sum x y he has released one EP entitled ‘Here Elsewhere’ and a single entitled ‘Back Home’. Forthcoming sum x y releases include a new EP of original work slated for 2019 and a number of upcoming club remixes and edits.
